Formal requests made for new Banking Hubs in Monifieth and Kirriemuir

This morning, Lloyd Melville, SNP candidate for Angus South, submitted a joint proposal alongside current MSP Graeme Dey, for new banking hubs in Monifieth and Kirriemuir.

The requests highlight the declining banking facilities in Kirriemuir, as well as Monifieth’s complete lack of financial services.

Sending the letter this morning (Thursday 5th February), Lloyd Melville said it followed a “constructive” period of engagement with Cash Access UK and Link, the bodies responsible for ensuring access to cash across the UK.

Commenting, Graeme Dey MSP said:

“We are working hard to improve access to cash and financial services for residents, and submitting these formal proposals is key to that.

“There will now be a period of assessment, which I hope will ensure we see new banking hub facilities set up here in Angus South.”

SNP candidate Lloyd Melville said:

“I’m delighted to submit these formal requests today, following constructive engagement with both Cash Access UK and Link around the issues at play in both Monifieth and Kirriemuir.

“I will continue that engagement, and press for an expansion of these facilities – so local folk can access the services they need without having to travel long distances.”
